Gurteen House, Gurteen, Bandon is a 5 bedroom 18th century Georgian farmhouse on approx. 2 acres of garden, woodlands, stream and pasture. This 3,000 square foot house has four large reception rooms and has all period features intact, including cornicing, doors, sash windows, working shutters and numerous fireplaces. It is approached down a long curving driveway and is set in a private location over 100m back from a quiet road, screened by mature trees. The house has been completely renovated in recent years. It has been rewired and plumbed to incorporate a modern efficient condeser boiler and central heating in all rooms. It was reroofed in 2009 using original bangor slates and was fitted with rockwool insulation. Period appropriate timber double glazed windows have been fitted to the front and pvc to rear while the hallway's architectural feature window has been restored. There is also a modern, light extension to the side of the property. It adjoins a separately owned 19th century Victorian gothic revival house. The property includes a listed 17th century bridge and trout pond, mature trees and lawns. It is a warm and cosy yet spacious and easy-to-maintain period house. It is nestled in a quiet leafy valley just one mile north of the thriving market town of Bandon, the gateway to West Cork. Clonakilty and Kinsale are 20 minutes away, while Cork city and airport are an easy 30 minute drive.
