The Freeman's Journal is an online newspaper that seeks to give voice to the ordinary people of Ireland who are often shut out of the print media. We are dedicated to the proposition that the media, as the government, should be by the people, of the people and for the people.
We believe that medical articles are best written by doctors and nurses; farmers should write on agriculture; mothers are well qualified to write about childcare. As well as these citizen journalists we want the very best in their fields to come forward and share their ideas and insights. We have many articulate and intelligent voices in Ireland that have gone unheard and unheeded for too long. This is their forum.
As well as seeking aspiring young journalists and citizen journalists, we also hope to attract some of Ireland's best writers and deepest thinkers: both from academic and barroom backgrounds. This publication will challenge its readers to think.
We aim to provide insightful news analysis for a rapidly changing Ireland. We will also find room for feature articles, profiles, poetry, photography and reflections.
